A Hidden Lake
a map as a narrative tool
In this project, I explore the relationship between the natural past of the Valley of Mexico and a selection of recurring catastrophic events in contemporary history. Specifically, I would like to focus on flooding patterns, the geolocation of the ancient lakes, and the location of the buildings that collapsed during the earthquakes of 1985 and 2017.
The objective is to correlate and overlay these events with geographic features of the site as a strategy to find hidden patterns. I hypothesize that the poor relationship that the city has with its own geological and hydrological history is the cause of these recurring disasters.
