Edgar Rodriguez is a Mexican architect and educator. He is the director of operadora. and an Assistant Professor at the Syracuse University School of Architecture.Edgar Rodriguez es un arquitecto y docente mexicano. His practice focuses on low-cost and adaptive reuse projects. Through his research he explores the cultural and semiotic dimensions of architecture with a sustained interest in the vernacular, banal, and ordinary conditions of contemporary life. His work spans a wide range of formats and media including built works, writing, photography, curatorial projects, and art. Selected projects and writing have been published in Log, Flash Art Volumes, The Brooklyn Rail, The Architect’s Newspaper, and Arquine, among other international outlets. He is the author of Forma Vernácula (Prima Press, 2025) and Beigeification™ (Mark Pezinger Books, 2026).
Su práctica se centra en proyectos de bajo costo y de reutilización adaptativa. A través de su investigación explora las dimensiones culturales y semióticas de la arquitectura, con un interés sostenido en lo vernáculo, lo banal y las condiciones ordinarias de la vida contemporánea. Su trabajo abarca una amplia gama de formatos y medios, entre ellos obra construida, escritura, fotografía, proyectos curatoriales y arte. Proyectos y textos suyos han sido publicados en Log, Flash Art Volumes, The Brooklyn Rail, The Architect’s Newspaper y Arquine, entre otros medios internacionales. Rodriguez holds a Master of Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture with honors from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
